Perennial Allergic Rhinitis

Perennial Allergic can be perennial; it means symptoms of this are present throughout the year or seasonal with symptoms peaking during the months of spring and summer when pollen levels are at their highest.
Perennial rhinitis is characterized primarily by nasal symptoms including watering or congestion of the nose and sneezing. It occurs due to an exaggerated response to an environmental trigger which results in inflammation of the lining of the nose. It is similar to hay fever; however, the substances which cause the allergic reaction are present all year round.
Common causes include the fecal matter of the house dust-mite, animal proteins from domestic pets, and industrial dust and fumes.

Allergic Rhinitis Symptoms

Allergic rhinitis may include these signs and symptoms:

  • Runny or Stuffy Nose
  • Sneezing
  • Red, Itchy, and Watery Eyes
  • Clogged ears and decreased sense of smell
  • Sore throat
  • Dark circles under the eyes
  • Puffiness under the eyes
  • Fatigue and irritability
  • Swelling around the eyes
  • Headache

Allergic Rhinitis Home Remedies

Don’t worry you can get rid of allergic rhinitis by these natural home remedies.

1. Steaming

  • Pour boiling water in a big bowl.
  • Add 3 or 4 drops of any essential oil of your choice like eucalyptus, peppermint, rosemary or tea tree oil.
  • Cover your head with a towel and lean carefully over the bowl.
  • Deeply inhale the steam for 5 to 10 minutes, then blow your nose thoroughly.
  • Repeat several times a day until you recover completely.

2. Ginger

  • Add 1 tbsp of grated ginger, a few cloves and a small piece of cinnamon to 1 cup of water. Boil this for 5 minutes, strain and add a little honey and lemon juice. Drink this herbal tea up to 3 times daily during the allergy season.
  • Also, chew small pieces of fresh ginger several times a day as well as include ginger in your cooking.

3. Garlic

  • Chew 2 to 3 raw garlic cloves daily to combat the various symptoms of allergic rhinitis.
  • Also, include garlic powder or raw garlic in your day-to-day cooking
  • People with a history of allergies can benefit from taking a garlic supplement daily during the allergy season. Consult your doctor for the correct dosage.

4. Turmeric

  • Prepare a mixture with 6 tablespoons each of turmeric powder and raw honey. Mix well and store it in an air-tight container. Have 1 teaspoon of this mixture 2 times daily during the allergy season.
  • Alternatively, drink 1 glass of warm turmeric milk daily to keep your immune system strong.
  • You can also use turmeric in your cooking or take turmeric supplements after consulting a doctor.

5. Saline Water

  • Mix 1 tbsp of salt and a pinch of baking soda in 2 cups of warm distilled water.
  • Using a nasal bulb, snort a small amount of this solution into one nostril.
  • Allow the solution to drain back out through the other nostril or through the mouth.
  • Gently blow your nose to remove excess mucus and solution.
  • Follow this same process with the other nostril.
  • Repeat this remedy a couple of times daily until your condition improves.

6. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar contains antibiotic and antihistamine properties so it is the best effective remedy for allergic rhinitis. It can also help you to reduce symptoms like nasal congestion, headaches, frequent sneezing, and others.

What will you need?

  • Organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar- 2 teaspoons
  • Honey- 1 teaspoon
  • Lemon Juice- 1 teaspoon
  • Warm water-1 glass

The process to do this:

  • Mix 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in a glass of warm water.
  • Mix 1 teaspoon each of lemon juice and honey in it.
  • Drink this mixture 2-3 times daily during the allergy season or until you feel better.

7. Stinging Nettle

Stinging nettle is also an antihistamine and anti-inflammatory properties that can help to treat seasonal allergies. It gives instant relief from symptoms like itching, sneezing, nasal congestion and coughing.

What will you need?

  • Dried stinging nettle leaf- 1 tablespoon
  • Honey
  • Hot water-1 cup

The process to do this:

  • Mix one tablespoon of dried stinging nettle leaf in a cup of hot water.
  • Now cover and steep it for 4-5 minutes.
  • Strain and add a little honey in it for sweetness.
  • Drink this mixture 2-3 times a day on the regular basis until your symptoms disappear.
